INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTER NETWORKING
A computer network is a set of computer connected together for the purpose of sharing information. It is a system in which multiple computer are connected to each other to share information and resources.
A computer network is a digital telecommunication network which allow nodes to share resource.
Types of computer networks are:
- Local Area Network
- Wide Area Network
- Wireless Local Area Network
- Storage Area Network
- Personal Area Network
LAN (Local Area NETWORK)
A LAN is a computer network which span over a small geographical area such as home, office etc. It interconnect computer within limited area such as school, library etc.
WAN (Wide Area Network)
A WAN is a telecommunication network that extend over a large coverage area for the purpose of the networking. It is a private network used for connect smaller network together.
WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network)
A wireless LAN is a wireless computer network that connect two or more devices using wireless communication to form a local area network within in a limited area such as school, computer laboratory etc. A wireless LAN is a network in which mobile user cdan connect to a LAN through a wireless connection.
SAN (Storage Area Network)
A SAN network is high speed network or storage network that provides acess to consolidated or block level data storage.
PAN (Personal Area Network)
A PAN is a compurt network that enables communication between computer devices near a person. A PAN provides data transmission among device such as smart phone, computer etc.
